Riot on the Rocks

S took a Saturday off to see some friends in London, so the 3 and I took a walk up the far end of the beach. Still they moan when the idea is suggested, but inevitably they enjoy themselves once we’re all out there, getting along the beach in no time as we run playing tag, trying to catch each other out. Crocs, trainers and rolled up trousers are one fashion option. I tell them that we’re out as if it’s a “proper walk” – we get right up to the far end of the beach. Despite the turn in the weather (from mild to cold), M and T seem to have no problem standing as close as they can to the shore line and getting caught by the waves as they “run away”. Another wet game involves standing on concrete block protrusions, try to avoid the waves, but with the inevitable opposite effect. E’s small slate sign tells us that the 2 are “very wet”. The sea wasn’t rough, but the angle of a concrete hardwall causes the waves to crash up and over – I just can’t quite catch it on camera. E managed to stay warm and dry – the sensible one these days, although she spends enough time getting wet in a swimming pool during the rest of the week.
